About Onward Lodge

The History of Onward Lodge

The Lodge was consecrated in Fleetwood in 1935 at the Mount Hotel where it originally met in a purpose-built lodge room; the Lodge takes its name from the town’s motto and its crest notably incorporates the Fleetwood coat of arms.

Currently comprising of 28 members (plus 2 honorary members); the average age of the members is 57, ranging from 24 to 81 years of age. Our Lodge members come from a wide range of social and working backgrounds, covering many different roles and careers, brought together by a shared interest to work hard, do good and have fun.
The Lodge is very friendly and prides itself on being family oriented, involving partners, family & friends in our activities wherever possible – particularly our social ones.

Trusted in The Community

We take our ritual & ceremonies seriously, striving to achieve an excellent standard – we do however make sure we enjoy ourselves in the process, being the best we can be; learning and growing from our mistakes. We’re keen to lead the way in how we conduct our meetings being innovative and early adopters of new methods/practices but remain respectful of the custom & traditions that have given the Lodge its identity over the years.

The Lodge has many connections with the local community and non-masonic charities, having long-standing relationships with Fleetwood RNLI and Trinity Hospice to name few; typically, the serving Master is invited to propose a charitable organisation for the Lodge to include in its charitable giving during his year in office.

Other Social Activities

In addition to the regular social activities, the Lodge typically hosts a further 1/2 other social events in the year, their content tends to vary by the interests of the serving Master & his Lady or by consensus of the Lodge members; examples include are casino/race nights, cabaret, day trips and themed nights.

The membership of the Lodge are also enthusiastic supporters of the social events organised by Province, Group and the Masonic Hall Ladies Committee, with a recognisable contingent present at most events.
